Register the Mobile Tracker Device with MAP using a
SOAP Web Services Tool

Note: The API call described below requires authentication; your MAP username and password credentials must be used. You can easily pass these credentials in the API call within the SOAP header using the following format:

<soap:Header><username>my_username</username><password>my_password</password></soap:Header>

provisionDevice

Call the provisionDevice API from the DeviceManagementService. Input parameters are:

IMEI or MAC address - This number uniquely identifies the mobile tracker device and can be found on the label on the bottom of the device. Usage varies by device:

• X-Trak 3 - IMEI
• ConnectPort X5 R - MAC
• TransPort WR44 R - MAC

Note: IMEI or MAC address should be entered using the following format (XXXXXX:XXXXXX (with or without the colon) or XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX).

Device Type - This identifies which mobile tracker product will be used. Available settings are:

Mobile Number - This is the mobile number of the mobile tracker device. This is associated with the SIM in the product and would be received from your cellular carrier.

Mobile Operator - This field is required, but not used at this time. Should be set to 1.

OrganizationId - By default, enter the organization ID you received when you initially created your user account. This number identifies the MAP "organization" in which to provision the mobile tracker device. MAP allows you to create an arbitrary hierarchy of organizations within organizations all within your user account. When initially creating your user account, you will receive an organization ID associated with that account. You can think of this organization as your home / root / top-level organization. All other other organizations that you create will be sub-organizations within this one.

Serial - (optional) You may use this for your own tracking purposes. Some companies maintain their own tracking of mobile tracker devices, assigning a serial number to the tracker of their own choosing. This may be stored in MAP along with the device object. Otherwise, leave this field blank.

Note: All other fields may be left blank.

You've completed the provisionDevice process. Proceed to the createAsset section where you will create an asset object to be tracked.
